IO Gear Adapters at Infocomm

1

June 15, 2012, Infocomm, Las Vegas—We talked with IOGear about the many adapters and interface products they produce. They tend to migrate between commercial and consumer types of products, and most are fairly simple function units.

Among the many products are 4-port and 8-port VGA CAT5 audio-video splitters, USB 3.0 hubs, multi-card readers, and 5-port WiFi Ethernet hubs. Most of these products sell for under $100 and provide extension capabilities for any system. The various boxes can connect almost any combination of devices and subsystems together.

A user can interconnect USB to VGA or to HDMI, and there are adapters that can also convert HDMI to VGA. The wireless HD kit and the WiFi use the 5GHz 802.11g standard, and are also compatible with the WHDI standard.

After the I/Os, they offer some KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) adapters for switching multiple computers through a single operating point. To complement the KVM are a set of wireless keyboards that operate on the 2.4 GHz band.

IO Gear 2D- to 3D-Converter and HDMI Mux

One of the most interesting pieces of equipment is a full 2-D to 3-D converter. The 3-D Complete+ family combination of four products in one; a high-end 2D to 3D converter, video enhancer, an HD upscaler, and a 4 port HDMI switcher. User controls can independently set the amount of pop and depth and the active video enhancement provides dynamic frame-by-frame correction. The converter takes inputs from any source, including game consoles, DVDs and BluRay disks, or cable box, and converts it to 3-D in real time.

The converter can also upscale 480 i/p to 720p HD, and 720p to full 1080 HD. It can also clean up Internet video artifacts like block noise and MPEG compression. The box supports 3-D ready projectors as well as active and passive glasses.
