3D interoperability test suite – GDC 2011

 March 3, 2011 – Game Developers Conference, San Francisco – The Khronos Group released the free COLLADA 1.4 Conformance Test Suite. COLLADA is an open, XML-based standard that enables assets to be freely interchanged between 3D authoring applications. The COLLADA test suite is a set of over 500 tests and a scripted framework that exercises applications that import and export COLLADA assets to ensure that they can reliably participate in a COLLADA-based toolchain.

Any developer that wishes to test COLLADA import and export functionality can go to the implementers’ page to get a copy of the source of the COLLADA CTS. Implementers can use the specifications for no costs or license fees and register their products with Khronos. The test suite is available for conformance and regression testing. If their tested products have passed the Khronos tests, they can upload successful test results to the Khronos server. Full testing and verification, plus a fee, provides permission to use the COLLADA logo and a series of COLLADA Conformance Badges confirming the quality of their COLLADA interoperability. Once companies get their products through the testing, they will be listed on the Khronos Adopters conformant products page.
