Fintech Advances the Edgeless Network for Security

At the RSA 2024 event in San Francisco a good number of vendors were addressing the growth of edgeless hybrid networks and the challenges of micro-services and micro-perimeters as a dominant environment.
Regulatory compliance in conjunction with legacy data has forced most financial institutions to adopt hybrid networks to unify their existing on-site servers and cloud based servers as a single customer facing network. In order to deploy this solution, the industry has been a rapid adopter of container based micro-services.
The micro-services present a new micro-perimeter profile to the network rather than user authentication, so container security and zero-trust networks become the the new requirements.
Arista Networks was showing their security solutions for their zero-trust solutions on their 1G all the through their 400G network switches. Their solutions are based on the CISA zerro-maturity model and utilize the Arista’s Multi-Domain Segmentation Service (MSS) for micro-services. These solutions can operate at high throughput including the Arista R-series products that can manage up to 14.4 Tbps of fabric capacity per line card.At these high throughput levels, management of the data flow is critical. Also showing at the conference was Aqua Solutions and their CNAPP (Cloud Native Application Protection) solutions. In addition to having the best booth giveaway of fresh hot mini-donuts, they are one of the leaders in container application security for micro-services applications. They additionally can monitor the security of these containers even if they have side-cars attached. The CNAPP solution addresses the areas of Dev Security, Runtime Security, and Posture Management. Runtime Security includes Container security and integrity validation.
These two solutions are the foundation toward a complete security solution that includes solutions from NextDLP and LogRhythm. The analysis from these and other tools go into the security profiles and transactional intelligence monitored by Mastercard Security Services.
