New Epson Projectors

The portable projectors are getting smaller and brighter. The latest business projector line puts out up to 3,000 lumens in a portable package that weighs less than 4 pounds. One version can operate in standalone mode, and gets its inputs through the USB port. All of the 1700 series projectors have HDMI inputs which allow for high fidelity music or other sounds through the audio back channel.
The projectors have quick turn-on times of less than 5 seconds, and “instant” off capabilities to allow for faster setup and takedown. The projectors all have automatic keystone correction and easy focus settings.
Some of the new projectors have built-in 802.11 b/g/n WiFi interface capabilities. Now the user can interface through an app with iOS devices, and can network through WiFi. Source materials can be on the mobile device or can be downloaded from online services like Dropbox. A different app will be available in July for Android devices.
In a different area, interactive projectors are focused on the education and corporate meeting functions. These projectors are set up with ultra short throw optics to enable the projector to be mounted very close to the projection surface, minimizing shadows and blocked images. The interactive projectors have a built-in toolbar to set pen parameters. The system can recognize 2 pens simultaneously, so it is possible to have highly interactive interactions with the displayed images. The accompanying software allows the system to locate and position the virtual pen-point on any surface. The projector can work on any projection surface.
