RooCase Dual View Tablet Cover by Salle Hayden
January 2014, As a followup to CES 2014, we were given the opportunity to do a review of several products for RooCase (www.roocase.com) . One of these products is the Dual View Folio Case for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. This case is available in five colors, the one sent for review is listed as purple. The other available colors are raspberry, red, navy and black.

The main function of the case is to both protect the device and also allow for full access to its functions. All of the tablet’s controls are accommodated well: the camera lens is uninhibited, sound control and off/on buttons are exposed, and micro-USB charge or interface inlet is easily accessible and does not require an extended length connector to charge.

The secondary function is to act as a handsfree stand to allow for using the device. The stand works well for either typing (with or without the accompanying stylus) in both portrait and landscape modes. The Velcro and microfiber interior work together so that the entire cover of the book can be removed & reattached as a portrait stand. In landscape mode the edge of the tablet will fit into any of the three grooves for standing. This makes it particularly handy for sitting on a bedside table to watch TV or movies. As the case did not come with instructions other than a simple illustration on the package, understanding the grooves in the cover were to support the landscape mode tilt angle as a stand was not intuitive for me. In seeing it used by others that that was what the grooves on the inside front cover were for, it was possible to use the case in different configurations and found a number of them that work for different applications.

The pebbled cover material is pleasant to the touch, and thick enough that it should be protective in most falls and accidents. When the cover is closed it as easy to grasp and hold onto as any book would be. When the case is opened, as when used while standing or taking notes, the microfiber inside cover makes for a non-slip grip.
Prior to the cover, the primary method of input was with finger tip. The cover not only comes with a two color pen stylus, but is optimized for stylus based use of the keyboard, which is also the preferred method by Samsung on the 7” and smaller products.
All in all, the product well made, works as anticipated, and is very no nonsense. It is a nice sturdy, functional protection for your tablet, and is both comfortable to use & carry around as well as being available in fashion colors to allow for differentiation from the standard world of easy to stain white.
