Pepcom MobileFocus San Francisco
May 2015 – Pepcom which is well known for its leading edge press showcase events, added a new event this year that was themed just for the community of mobile products. Their MobileFocus event was held in San Francisco. The event was positioned in the evening across from the IoT World conference which was very wearable and mobile centric.
The show featured some of the recent standard exhibiting companies showing off their mid-year/ pre-summer products. These vendors were ecoATM, SanDisk, Kensington, HTC, and Cobra.
HTC RE mobile camera for smaertphone
HTC was showing their new mobile phones and cases. The highlight on the accessory side was the slightly updated HTC RE Bluetooth camera. The camera has a new firmware patch that makes for smoother operation over multiple versions of android (jellybean & kitkat) and including the latest v5.x.x lollipop releases. The unit is still available at AT&T stores as well as other retail locations.
Kingston Mobile G2
Kensington was showing off their new audio products, their new wireless mouse with the track-on-glass technology from their new HD laser and their next generation of the mobilelite wireless the G2. This device features a 1Gb RJ45 jack, USB port for charging, SD/microSD card slot and a wifi hub that supports up to 5 devices and can route up to three different streams at once.
ecoATM was discussing and showing their updated machine has seen in uptake in tablets. The advances in mobile products are rapid, and this results with vendors such as ecoATM constantly looking at the use and function of devices as well as their lifecycle. The tablet turnover rate has double recently and is now a major portion in both the IT and consumer upgrade path. Many of the new products, such as wearables are headed to a quick replacement cycle as the new features; OS and sensor technology enter the marketplace. The shift in the tablet turnover is the one of the first major platforms to see a rapid acceleration in recycle activity even in light of the world wide tablet marketplace growth hitting a plateau.
Cobra had two products in their booth – the next generation of their Li-ion power packs for jumpstarting a car or recharged. The new unit is smaller and lighter than the market originating JumPack product. The new unit is designed for cars and light duty trucks, and once again will support 2 other devices if not being used to jump a car. In addition to the new battery, they were showing their latest radar detector. This unit is both a multi-band radio unit and a laser detector. It has improved capability and speed relevant automated sensitivity adjustment. The unit also can monitor and give warnings based on roadway tracking from other drivers as they pass speed monitoring points.
San Disk Android Dual Drive
Sandisk was showing a couple of external mobile memory solutions for phones. One iPhone iXpand external memory product which is a lightning connector external memory that is comes in a 128GB format unit. The other is the Dual Drive which is for Android and is a dual connector micro USB and type A USB connector in a small format. Unlike others the market, the housing is a smaller than usual package with a space to “park” both of the connectors in covers. This allows for easy offload to a PC without having to deal with a setup connection session.

doorlocks. One of the standouts was Zolt. They have introduced a new small format batter charging unit that allows, through a special cable, allows for charging an ultrabook class laptop along with two USB devices. The need to charge all of the devices safely is essential as “juice jacking” or inserting malware/viruses during the time the units are being connected to charge in a public area. The new Zolt unit can prep a device for a flight by allowing it to be isolated while downloading and prepping a movie or video content for the flight, and still leave enough battery for the flight. Preorders for the fall delivery device are currently being taken.
