AMD Ryzen 3 Brings “Zen” to Entry Level Platforms

August 2017 – AMD released the entry level unit on their new Ryzen processor family – the Ryzen 3.  The Ryzen family of processors is a new architectural design that is built around the AMD SenseMI technology which manages power, performance boost, extended operating frequency range, Neural Net Prediction on power performance optimization and a smart instruction pre-fetch capability. These features were previously only available in high performance gaming & CAD, and office enterprise markets with the Ryzen 5 and 7 processors released earlier this year.

Now the entry and consumer mainstream marketplace that is utilizing a 4 core 4 thread configuration is being served with the Ryzen 3.   The general purpose processor can be used for video, gaming and home office functions.  When compared to the Intel Core i3, the processor performs with double digit improvements on Cinebench as well as DirectX9, DirectX11 and DirectX12.  Additionally, for new gaming and viewing habits, the Ryzen 3 in both the 1200 and 1300X configurations are VR Ready and can operate for long periods due to the low 65W operating power.

To accompany the new processors, they have released two new coolers the Wraith Stealth specifically for the Ryzen 3 series and more powerful Wraith MAX which incorporates integrated LED lighting.  The new Ryzen 3 processors are compatible with the AMD AM4 platform chipsets.  These support a socket that will fit both the Ryzen and 7th Gen APU/Athlon and new connectivity.  The connectivity includes USB3.1Gen 2, 6GBps SATA, GP PCIe Gen 3, DDR4 Memory, Memory and CPU Overclocking, and a native NVMe interface.

The Ryzen 3 Products are available now for under $140 MSRP from most computer suppliers and will be in multiple products for the holiday 2017 season.
