SVCC 2016 William Shatner highlights preview night

March 2016 – The inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose the opening night event was highlighted by a talk from William Shatner. The event An Evening with William Shatner is a long running staple of “xxxCon” events.

Mr Shatner packed the room with several hundred to low thousand people in the crowd to hear the talk. The event consists of Mr Shatner reminiscing and telling stories of his choosing for about the first 20-25 min of the hour event. These included his comments on mortality, his early acting career, being from Canada and people / travel he engaged in over the years.

Following the monologue portion of the show, he fielded questions from the audience. The questions notably were Star Trek centric, but also referred to other projects such his narration for the Montreal Expo’s commemorative DVD set, and his time on the stage. The questions were from audience ranged from kids under 10 to adults in their 60’s.

He made time in the monologue portion to directly address Steve Wozniak who organized the event and invited him to speak on the opening night. He gave the honor of the first question to Steve. In the intro to his question, Woz mentioned that he had always admired Mr Shatner and as a young kid, had his unlisted phone number.
