CES is a big, spectacular media event that draws huge crowds, and companies spend a lot of money to give this show a “Hollywood” look. There were many sales pitches, product demonstrations , business meetings, and cocktail parties. This years’ show was no exception. Celebrities showed up to plug their products in grand style, and in their own style. But CES was probably the last place to expect Lemmy Kilmister, the legendary frontman of Motorhead.
On Tuesday January 8 in the Central Hall Las Vegas Convention Center the crowd gathered at the booth. Lemmy always draws a crowd wherever he goes. Road warriors, volume busters and free spirits were always a Motorhead rock-and-roll style. And still are. Lemmy showed up to promote Motorheadphones in Motorhead style. Why are Motorhead headphones better than others? – Because “I said so” answered the question from the audience. Then he let Ulf Sandberg and Anders Nicklasson from Motorheadphones to cover the technical field. The next day he was little more talkative during an exclusive 1 on 1 10 minute scheduled phone interview with M&E Tech, but unfortunately the phone reception during a show like CES was not great and I could barely understand his responses. However, his participation on the call was with a surprisingly open and very positive attitude towards discussing the product . In true Motorhead style the product, the headphones by design are louder than anything else, BUT with the sort of range and clarity for true rock reproduction. Well… what the road-warriors themselves say, “If it’s too loud, you are too old”.
