New Disney Game at E3

June 11, 2013, E3, Los Angeles—We looked at the latest releases from the Disney Interactive organization. New this year for the XBox 360, Wii, Wii U and PS 3 consoles is a family of games called Infinity. These games bring in a new gaming experience that continues Disney’s family-friendly games.

The new games are started through a USB base controller that connects to the console. The games are activated by placing swappable figures and discs on the base unit. See photo. The games can use dual controls and up to 4 people on-line in a single game. Current games are based on the movies “Monsters U”, “Incredibles”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Lone Ranger”, and “Cars”. The mission-based games use the various functions of the characters and extra Power Discs.

Power Discs can be used to improve and enhance the Disney Infinity experience in a number of ways. The circular Power Discs are used to grant your character special power ups that can be used in Play Sets and in the Toy Box. Hexagonal Power Discs unlock special gadgets, vehicles, and themes to allow for even more personalization in the Toy Box. Some assets in the Discs are sharable across characters.

The Toybox is the part of the starter set and a sandbox for play. It allows for user-generated game fields and mixes of sets and characters. It holds all of the game assets from all of the different games. The separate characters and the screen objects have embedded functions that the power discs can change or unlock as new functions.
