Promise bring Apollo to the CE market

January 2016 – Long time enterprise supplier Promise Technology has introduced a storage solution for the consumer marketplace.  Leveraging their experience in the video storage array marketplace, they worked to create an easy to use secure media storage solution that does not store the data in cloud, but is accessible from remote location.

As cell phones and other mobile devices increasingly become sources of media content creation (audio, photos and videos), sharing and storing them in a consumer environment has been a challenge.  Most people store this information on social media platforms or public cloud storage, but these pose privacy concerns.  Home based DAS (Direct Attached Storage) has the challenge of not being accessible except by the device that it is connected to.  The Apollo solution is a multi-tenant designed local NAS (Network Attached Storage) device that has a simple app based interface from Android, iOS, Mac and Windows based systems.

Designed from the ground up as a Multi-Tenant NAS device, all the content that is transferred and stored on the device is stored under separate members.  These member directories can then be assigned to other people to “share” both viewing and editing rights.  The network and hence internet connected storage, can be accessed both locally and through the apps which manage the IP locations for the device.

To move content it is simply a swipe to say “store” and the content gets transferred from the mobile device.  Viewing is just as easy.  The service and the app are free with purchase of the device and have no recurring costs.  As the system is a storage device and does not regulate data traffic, it is recommended but not required that the data transfers take place when the mobile device is connected to WiFi to eliminate data charges from the carrier networks.

The Apollo system is currently available from Promise Technology and its distribution channels.
