MEMS in the Mainstream – Oct Tech Summit @ Stanford

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the start of NovaSensor, the MEMS Technology Summit is being held on Oct 19-20, 2010 at Stanford Universtiy. NovaSensor was one of the first Silicon Valley model MEMS startups, and its founders are back for a special event discussing the technical developments and applications in the current MEMS world.

The two day event has discussions and presentations on MEMS technology from the commercial / industrial, automotive, consumer and bioelectronic marketplace. The event kicks off with several pre-event tours of the Stanford MEMS labs and the Linac Coherent Light Source at SLAC National Lab. The opening speakers are the three founders of Novasensor, Kurt Petersen, Joseph Mallon and Janusz Bryzek.

The current MEMS universe includes the highly recognizable integrated microsensor used as an accelerometer, or other pressure sensor through micomachined infusion pumps, new display technologies & engines, microphones, inertial sensors, high performance timing circuits, and the traditional MEMS volume leader the ink jet printer & cartridge. There are both technical presentations on these recent topics as well as business and trend discussions on the growth and expansion directions for the marketplace.

The speakers for the event represent some of the leaders from the university communities of UC Berkeley, Stanford, MIT, USC, Georgia Tech, Univ of Michigan and Univ of New Mexico. DARPA is there representing a government perspective. The international commerical community is representd as well as many of the industries R&D and production leaders in MEMS like ST, Bosch, Qualcomm, Analog Devices, TI, HP and IBM.

Registration for the event closes on Fri Sept 15th, and can be found at http://www.memssummit.org/#RegInfoPricing.
