Geotab new products for telematics
September 2015 – In a briefing at the CTIA Super Mobility 2015 event, we got an update on the Geotab GO7 device for the OBDII port. The Geotab booth had an array of partners who had developed products and services on their platform that rotated through over the multiple days of the show. The core of the technology they were showing was the myGeotab software and its associated SDK. The my Geotan software is available with no additional cost to subscribers of their system and GO7 device.
Geotab Fleet Management Software myGeotab
The software, which was shown in combination with the GO7 device, which provides information for fleet management capabilities on the data that is captured and transmitted. It includes flexible Advanced Report generation; Driver Behavior Management based on NFC for the Driver’s ID; Engine Data Reporting including engine RPM, engine light, seatbelt, odometer, engine hours, emissions, vehicle identification number (VIN), and vehicle battery voltage; GPS based Vehicle Tracking; Route Optimization including comparison of actual versus planned routes; Engine Health & Maintenance allowing for prioritization of the repairs for your vehicles as well as proactive vehicle maintenance and the setup vehicle maintenance reminders; an Open Data Integration API which allows for the integration of Getotab’s vehicle and location information into your company’s operations and third-party Add-On applications for direct incorporation to accounting and billing systems; and finally a Custom Mapping interface that allows for the Design of application specific, business relevant maps which are automatically combined with the application’s vehicle information. The graphics for the maps can include flexibility in map views, legends and zone shapes and sizes.
The multi-dashboard software environment uses a common viewing experience across office and mobile devices. The data can be seen in both graphical format and exported in Excel format. The exported data can be parameterized for predictive analytics functions. The GO7 device itself contains the connection to several vehicle systems and has its own connectivity. These include: Interfaces to Engine Management & in-cabin I/O; Cellular with CDMA / 3G / 2G; GPS Receiver with under 1 sec time to first fix and 3GPP compliance; I/O Expandability Support (IOX™) including Driver ID, Garmin, Iridium, serial ports and up to 4 Auxiliary connections; a 3-axis Accelerometer; and an Non-volatile Flash Memory Store for both on-line connected and off-line data storage. The cellular connection interface was recently discussed under a major OEM / purchase agreement with Verizon.
