A leader in the physical security marketplace for all computing electronics, they have not lost their focus on the usability of the computers along the way. On the input side, most devices have relied on mice and now, touchpads. However, for table space constrained applications, it is hard to use a high resolution mouse. For these applications, trackballs were the primary solution.

With the rise of photo & video editing and other content creation tasks, the need for a high resolution input device is regaining popularity. To supplement the office desktop mouse, and as a simplified alternative to high performance gaming mice, the trackball is the answer. The number of manufacturers is dropping for this product, but Kensington not only continues to make the product, but updated the design to be compatible with Windows 10.
The Expert Mouse Wired Trackback has a USB2.0 type A connector and loads into Windows 7, 8 and 10 as a native device. To use the device, just plug it in and it configures for operation. There is software available by download that allows for customization of the 4 buttons and bi-directional scroll ring for a programmable experience if you do not like the standard configuration. Like most trackballs the ball is removable for cleaning.
The trackball is more sensitive and precise than a touchpad, and is on a par with a laser mouse. The device comes with a 55mm ball and a detachable wristpad. This configuration allows for use with either hand. The default arrangement is for right handed use. The trackball is available from Kensington direct as many of standard electronics retailers.
