HP Updates Workstations with Advanced Design
September 2017 – Continuing their refresh to the latest capabilities, HP announced their new desktop workstations. The new design for the HP Z8, Z6 and Z4 workstations have been updated for enhanced reliability, compute capacity, and industrial design.
The visual design of the full size Z8, Z6 and Z4 models are much more aggressive looking representing the capabilities inside. The new designs have been implemented not for aesthetics, but to support the increased performance of the units. Higher power with up to an 1700W power supply, more compute capability with a dual processor configuration supporting up 56 CPU cores, more storage with up to 48TB built in, support for up to 3 Nvidia Quadro P6000 series GPUs and now, 3TB of RAM spread over 24 memory slots, and dual 10GBe network interfaces. This high performance configuration requires a focus on airflow and cooling, and the new designs support that.
HP G4 Z8, Z6, and Z4 Desktop Workstations
The new workstations are being targeted to higher end application such as machine learning, virtual reality, and advanced (4K and 8K) content creation, computational design while maintaining an unprecedented new level of security. As the workstations are being used for the creation of high valued assets, security measures such as HP Sure Start Gen3, TMP2.0, Secure Authentication and HP SecureErase are all part of the product line offering.

These redesigned units join the recently launched G4 of the Zbook workstations and the first-in market the Z backpack workstation for VR and content creation.
