Maxon at NAB 2013
April 8, 2013, National Association of Broadcasters, Las Vegas—We talked with Maxon about their latest product releases. The main item was their tool integration with Adobe tools.
They revealed the strategic alliance with Adobe, aimed at delivering a new level of integration between its 3D application CINEMA 4D, and After Effects. Two MAXON technologies will be incorporated into After Effects: CINEWARE and CINEMA 4D Lite. The integration eliminates mezzanine files and changes the workflow to reduce renders on iterations.
The new live 3D pipeline between Cinema 4D and After Effects eliminates intermediate rendering between applications. Cineware establishes a bridge between the two applications. Also included is CINEMA 4D’s workflow and toolset. This limited version of CINEMA 4D gives artists access to a subset of the software’s functionality. The Cinema 4D tool has camera trackers and a 3-D reference set that features modeling, splines, and nurbs. The functionality allows cut and paste between 2-D and 3-D images.
The demonstration showed cross functionality between the tools’ functions and active files without I/O or intermediate layers. The tools automatically add names to objects and tags to the cameras at the user’s discretion. The user has a choice of render on output or input to AfterEffects. The tool integration allow users to open all versions of Cinema 4D from within AfterEffects, and even the 4D Light version is included. Maxon also noted that there is now an upgrade path from 4D Light to the full version.
