AWE 2013 Awards for AR

June 4, 2013, Augmented Reality Expo, Santa Clara, CA—The AR.org group presented awards to a number of companies for excellence and innovation. The group is working to get 1B active users of AR by 2020. They host a number of events to educate and boost awareness about AR, and hatch AR initiatives and help bring them to market.

This group of people, including designers, entrepreneurs, engineers, believe that AR apps on smartphones can be very useful. More importantly, advancing AR on existing platforms is a necessary step to prepare the ground (users, technologies, applications, designers) for the new way of digital interaction with the world – once eyewear matures. AugmentedReality.org is a 501(c) non-profit organization with institutional supporters and individual members from across the world.

This year’s awards recognize some of the best projects, apps, and solutions for various AR categories. A number of people and companies were nominated for the awards, and the decision process was difficult. The winners and their categories were:

Best Enterprise Solution: Otolift Starlift B2B Tools, and Twinkls

Best Hardware Startup: OpenFuelCell/H2MDK

Best Augmented Hardware: Sphero

Best AR Marketing Campaign: Gold AR Guerilla Campaign

Best SDK: Vuforia

Best AR Video: Sight System
