Imagine launches VersioCloud
September 2015 – Imagine Communications recently released version 3 of the Versio platform. The version 2 was an appliance that handing the baseband control, input/output, clip control and all the other standard functions of the broadcast. The version 2 appliance, however, was constrained by the bandwidth and distribution limitations of the coax that connected the device. The version 3 platform was developed to eliminate this constraint.

VersioCloud is the product name of the version 3 of the platform, it is an IP based software only solution that can reside on a private or public cloud. The product is available as Platform as a Service model and brings full channel capabilities to a standard COTS server configuration under the expansion costs of software virtualization. The PaaS model is managed by a single license structure for simplicity.
The VersioCloud system supports integrated channel playout functions including automation, branding, graphics, and file server capabilities. The channel playout is an important function in the broadcast workflow. Creating and defining the playout as a combination of video content and advertising and defines the broadcast channel. The integration of cloud-based playout, hybrid baseband and IP transport allows the VersioCloud platform to enable new capabilities to both improve playout and address workflow challenges. The platform provides visibility for advertising playout, disaster recovery, channel creation and expansion of brands into new markets and new geographies without requiring brick-and-mortar facilities.
