Enterprise Wearables at AWE
June 2016 – The enterprise marketplace is seeking new support technology that extends beyond traditional IT products. One of the products making inroads is wearables. The wearable products include but are not limited to just AR solutions, but include other devices.
The AR marketplace has been focused on the creation of high quality augmented reality content that has been created from actual video. This, however, is not sufficient to provide a functional solution. There are 4 key elements of the solution for use in the enterprise.
- The solution is hands free and can support intuitive hand motion/gesture control
- People have to know how to wear the AR glasses and the glasses must fit the diversity of the employee base.
- The AR solution must also be able to display digital and text information in addition to the video and graphic content.
- The AR content has to be able to align so it can augment and properly superimpose additional video, graphics and informational content on the real objects seen through the AR headset.
These elements will allow the AR solution to bring the productivity that is has been found at the stationary touch screen display with a mouse to a higher level of functionality that includes mobility.
