Single Person Production from ChyronHego

April 2015 – At the NAB 2015 show in Las Vegas, ChyronHego was showing their more aggressive market entry products that have been released since the 40+ yr old public company went through a privatization in 2014. This year’s show featured the demonstration of 3 recently announced products – Vistacam, Metacast MediaMaker and Studio MediaMaker.

The Vistacam product is targeted at newsrooms that are using panoramic video walls on set. The product allows for the management of 1 to 4 SDI inputs to do drive the display. VistaCam is designed for live broadcasting. The product was conceived to stream live or recorded panoramic video over IP from the arena or stadium back to the studio.

Since video walls vary in terms of size and resolution, VistaCam offers flexible one-to-four HD-SDI outputs for display. In addition, each output can be color adjusted and shifted as needed to manage frame misalignment in the video wall. To go with the software, there is a custom VistaCam array. The VistaCam array is a set of four stacked 1080P cameras, each of which is focused on a specific view of the field. These camera views are then “stitched” into a cohesive, seamless wide-angle panorama.

The camera array connects through a single fiber connect to VistaCam’s Presentation Engine or the on-venue streaming server. The VistaCam Presentation Engine also features a built in disc-recorder for playback of pre-recorded panoramic video. The disc-recorder also serves as a fail-over device, should the connection to the camera array disengage.

ChyronHego MetaCast Mediamaker

Continuing the newsroom support, Metacast MediaMaker is a template-based weather graphics solution. These templates can be designed by the user to render constantly updated weather clips and deliver them live into a CAMIO-powered BlueNet workflow, an internal MAM system, or any other file-based broadcast workflow. The solution allows for large broadcasters that are trying to extend their weather coverage when a meteorologist isn’t available. For smaller organizations it works for bringing a “large broadcast look and feel” to their weather graphics using ChyronHego’s proven template-based workflow and real time weather data from a variety of data sources, such as radar, satellite, forecast models, pinpoint city/location forecasts and remote weather stations, all weather animations are automatically rendered and continuously updated.

The Metacast solution includes built-in Lyric data binding that allows the user to easily manipulate weather data feeds to create or modify existing weather graphics information, including forecast banners or crawl messages.

ChyronHego Studio MediaMaker

For small studio and segment production, they introduced a template based 1 camera 1 person workflow solution called Studio MediaMaker. This product allows for single person production using only the on-air talent as live and without requiring a local director, producer, camera operator or graphics support providing the real time control room function. This product highlights the dramatic shift in segment and show production that is possible by the transition to a file based workflow.

Studio MediaMaker provides newsroom-style automation, template-based graphics fulfillment, built-in recording and multi-platform publishing. The product features a streamlined file-based Plan, Produce & Publish workflow is designed around the presenter. The software provides control of built-in or external devices, such as teleprompter, live or recorded video, multi-channel graphics, audio and video mixers, PTZ cameras, clip control, overlay graphics and much more which can be triggered manually by the presenter or through automation & timing.

Studio MediaMaker’s takes advantage of FFMPEG’s complete, cross-platform ability to convert and stream audio and video, making it the perfect complement to today’s “all-in” multi-format production, multi-platform delivery world. The output from the product is a single fully integrated “segment” or “show” video file with all elements included that is ready for playout. Studio MediaMaker (http://chyronhego.com/production-tools/studio-mediamaker) has been used for several years by their beta customers for real broadcast applications and Version 1.0 will be released in early Q3, 2015.
